What is MEP consulting?
MEP consulting concerns the mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems that form the hidden backbone of a hotel — the systems guests never see but feel in every moment of comfort, and that owners pay for in every utility bill for the life of the building. “M” covers mechanical systems, principally heating, ventilation and air-conditioning (HVAC). “E” covers electrical systems — power supply, distribution, backup and controls. “P” covers plumbing and public-health engineering — water supply, drainage, hot water and fire-fighting systems. These systems are among the largest items in a hotel's construction budget and, crucially, the dominant driver of its operating costs and its long-term maintenance burden. Decisions made at the MEP design stage echo through the property's entire economic life.
What BSG delivers and why BSG
BSG Hospitality advises on the full MEP scope — HVAC, electrical load and distribution, plumbing and public health, fire systems and energy efficiency — calibrated to the hotel's scale, category, climate and location. Because BSG operates hotels, our mandate is always systems that perform reliably, cost-effectively and are simple to maintain in the real world, not over-engineered specifications that look impressive but burden the operation. Our specialisation in premium, upscale, destination wedding and wellness properties, irrespective of room count, ensures the systems match the comfort and reliability these properties demand. And as the owner's advisor, BSG mandates no MEP consultants or vendors; we help you brief, select and review the right specialists, with no imposed relationships. BSG is an advisory partner here, not a mandated supplier: we help you brief, select and review the right specialists and decisions, and we impose no consultants of our own. If you ask us to recommend or coordinate them, we will — but it is always your choice. Is there anything in hospitality BSG cannot handle? BSG's guiding principle is that when it comes to hospitality, there is nothing we cannot do. Whatever your property needs — across operations, commercial, people, design or infrastructure — BSG either delivers it directly or brings the right expertise to it, always under your brand and on your terms.

The kinds of MEP systems
Mechanical (HVAC)
Air-conditioning and ventilation, delivered through different system types — chilled-water systems with chillers and air-handling units for larger properties; VRF/VRV systems for flexibility and zoning; packaged or ductable units for smaller or phased properties. The right choice depends on the property's size, layout, climate and operating pattern, and it heavily influences both comfort and energy cost.
Electrical
The power infrastructure — high- and low-tension supply, transformers, distribution, diesel-generator and UPS backup for uninterrupted operation, and building-management-system controls. A hotel must never go dark or hot, so reliable, well-sized electrical design with proper redundancy is essential.
Plumbing and public health
Water supply and storage, hot-water generation, drainage and sewerage (interfacing with the STP and water-treatment plant), and the fire-fighting systems — hydrants, sprinklers and fire alarms — that are non-negotiable for life safety and compliance.
Energy efficiency and sustainability
Across all three disciplines, energy-efficient and sustainable design — efficient HVAC, heat recovery, solar, LED, water reuse and BMS-driven controls — that reduces the property's running costs and environmental footprint for its entire life.

Why MEP consulting matters
MEP is where a hotel's operating economics are quietly decided. These systems consume the lion's share of a property's utility costs, and an inefficient or poorly sized MEP design saddles the owner with excessive bills, frequent breakdowns and expensive maintenance for decades — costs that dwarf any saving made by under-investing at the design stage. Equally, MEP failures hit the guest directly and unforgivingly: a room that will not cool, hot water that runs out, a power outage during a wedding dinner. And fire and life-safety systems are simply not negotiable — they protect lives and are required for compliance. Expert MEP advisory ensures the systems are correctly sized (neither wasteful nor inadequate), reliable, energy-efficient and, importantly, simple to maintain with the skills available locally — a particular consideration for the Tier 2, Tier 3 and remote properties BSG specialises in, where complex systems can become unmaintainable. Getting MEP right at design is one of the highest-leverage cost decisions in the entire project.
How BSG engages
Discovery call to understand the property, its scale, category, climate and location.
Scope and commercial proposal defining the engagement and BSG's fee.
Site visit, at the owner's expense, to ground the work in the reality of the property.
Onboarding and contract, with advances as agreed.
Immediate mobilisation — BSG begins MEP review and advisory without delay.
